Hi, how can a girl who knows absolutely nothing about D&D get started?

Okay so the fastest and easiest way to learn the game is to just start playing. All you need is 3-4 friends, some rule books, and some dice. But before you go out buying books and dice you gotta find out what edition you want to play. 4th and 5th editions are both pretty easy to pick up. 5th edition is what’s new and hot right now so it also has that going for it. I personally have a strong bias towards a sort of spin off of 3rd Edition called Pathfinder.
If you want to check out how the game is played before you make that choice listening to podcast is a p good way to do that. Heres a 5th edition one that I like and also (shameless self advertising) my friends and I do a Pathfinder podcast as well.
If you can’t find friends in the offline world to play with you there are also ways to play it with people online like https://roll20.net/ (which also comes with its own e-dice). You can also find groups to play with there. There is also this other blog I run for finding groups called @lfglistings.
